Panasonic, Panasense, 2007

The E-MO display communicates your emotions to the outside world so that you and your surroundings can be more aware of your emotional state. This helps you cultivate your relationships with others further.

Team Panasense was approached by Panasonic ATRL to “explore the use of wearable technologies to provide people with greater awareness of their mental or emotional states and feedback that promotes or encourages enhanced well-being.

Keeping in mind that the intended focus was to be upon the visualization of invisible internal states, exclusive of sensing, the design team developed the following goal: to provide a medium to convey, consider and understand emotions between users to enhance communication.

The team’s efforts have culminated in the creation of E-MO, an innovative display for communicating invisible internal states in real-time, face-to-face social interactions.
