ME310 Aalto is an interdisciplinary design innovation program for user-centered product and service development.
Projects in ME310 come from small and large companies, and from various industries including consumer electronics, automotive, telecommunications, healthcare, aeronautics, software, household products, transportation, government, etc. Here are a few of our previous sponsors:
Topics for projects are often broad enough so that students must not only solve, but also define the problem while delivering surprise and delight to the corporate partners. At the same time, projects should be well defined so that students are working within a realistic context – the best training ground for the innovators of tomorrow. We, as the teaching team of the course, are happy to help you create the perfect brief.
Since Aalto University consists of many different schools, we can provide highly skilled interdisciplinary teams to work on the projects. Teams always include designers, business students, software and/or hardware engineers, with slight variations depending on the brief. These interdisciplinary teams, combined with a methodology from Stanford University has proven to produce very innovative results.
Projects start in September and end in June the following year. During the year, interdisciplinary teams of students make and test around 30 prototypes and at the end present tested proof of concept to the sponsor company at the final exhibition at Stanford University. Each year, because of the intensity and close proximity teaching, we are only able to accommodate 4 – 6 projects.
